Meet Luke Hoekstra

Luke Hoekstra

As the After School Program Coordinator, Luke supervises instructors and assists/coordinates their delivery of experiential, science-based environmental studies curriculum in an after-school program as well as overseeing numerous school sites in which the curriculum is being delivered to children in grades K-8.

Luke received his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Humboldt State University in 1996. Since joining the team in 2022, he has been a vital part of making sure our programs are second to none by providing the best experience possible for all involved. His over 25 years of experience in developing and teaching environmental science and conservation has been an invaluable asset to AES.

He is most excited to see AES continuously improve the quality of our program in the hopes of expanding it statewide in California. His mission states, “For our survival, humanity must learn to live in sustainable balance with our natural environment. To develop the desire to do so, we must not only learn about nature but also physically experience its wonders.” Luke has committed his life's work to providing others with this opportunity.

When not providing environmental education for kids, Luke enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. These include mountain biking, hiking, whitewater rafting, disc golf, spending quiet time in nature, playing basketball, watching sports, and a lot of movies.

At Adventure Education Solutions, we introduce students to outdoor environments and present them with experiences that challenge them physically, socially, and mentally. Contact us to learn more about our after school programs, camps, and study abroad programs.
